Case Study 1: Northcote Manor
Situated on the edge of the Ribble Valley in Lancashire,
Northcote Manor is an established and respected restaurant
with rooms. It has been run by joint proprietors Nigel
Haworth and Craig Bancroft since 1983, and is probably
best known for Nigel Haworth’s outstanding kitchens
with an emphasis on local Lancashire produce.
Northcote Manor appointed eBusiness UK to undertake
the Search Engine Optimisation of its main website.
In just a few months, traffic to the site increased
from approximately 3000 visits per month, to over
10,000.
The increase in visitors was achieved by optimising
the site to gain high rankings on the major search
engines.
The first stage was to establish the right keywords
or phrases. “Anyone can achieve high rankings
on an obscure phrase,” said Latif Kothia of
eBusiness UK. “We look at the overall business,
its target market and objectives, then work with the
client to develop the keywords and phrases that will
get results,” he added.
Northcote Manor’s keywords and phrases include:
Wedding Reception Ideas, Wedding Venues UK, Country
Hotels UK, Michelin Star and Lancashire Hotpot. The
site was then optimised for these particular keywords.
Since the project began, Northcote Manor has moved
from no rankings at all for these keywords, to being
included in either pages 1 or 2 in the major search
engines.

our marketing campaign and having the site optimised
for search engines in this way has made a significant
